Former president Mwai Kibaki is still receiving treatment in South Africa, his spokesman Ngari Gituku has said.



Gituku, on Monday, August 22, asked Kenyans to ignore rumours going around that Mwai Kibaki had passed away.




Mwai Kibaki’s family had on Sunday, August 21, announced that he had been flown to South Africa for specialised treatment.

“Earlier today, His Excellency Mwai Kibaki, the third president of the republic on Kenya, flew to South Africa for specialized medical treatment, after being taken ill,” reads a statement from the family.

The statement did not state which hospital the 84-year-old former president had been taken to.
