Janet Jackson's emotions started pouring out on the first night of her "Unbreakable" tour ... which she kicked off in Vancouver Monday night. Janet got a massive ovation at the very start of the show -- and broke down before launching into her string of hit songs. Her set included "Scream" ... the mega hit she recorded with her brother, Michael. As for what everyone really came to see -- 49-year-old Janet's still pulling off her signature dance moves. Janet Jackson returned to the stage Monday night to kick off her Unbreakable World Tour in Vancouver, her first time on the road in four years. Opening the night with an unreleased song (reportedly called "Burn It Up") that featured Missy Elliott rapping on video screen, the star made her way through a set that included two more new tracks, her latest single "No Sleeep" and a plethora of hits, from "Rhythm Nation" to "Scream." (To mark her return, PEOPLE caught up with Jackson's longtime hairstylist to recall her most memorable 'dos.)Jackson – who secretly married Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana in 2012 – has been out of the spotlight the past few years but re-emerged earlier this summer.

On her 49th birthday in May, Jackson took to Twitter to announce her comeback, posting a video in which she said: "I've promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will. This year: new music, new world tour, a new movement. I've been listening, let's keep the conversation going."
