Embu principal magistrate Robinson Oigara yesterday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment after finding her guilty of attempted murder of her husband.
Veronicah Ruguru is said to have splashed he hushand Patrick Njue with acid on July 16, 2012 while he was sleeping.
It is alleged that on the said date, Veronicah woke up, prepared their children for school and went on with her household chores. She then walked into their bedroom where Mr. Njue was sleeping and splashed him with the acid.
She locked the door then fled leaving Njue in pain. their neighbours rescued Njue after he switched on the alarm. He was taken to hospital where Veronicah followed him after receiving news that he was still alive.
Oigara said that the prosecution proved beyond doubt that Ruguru committed the offence and had followed Njue to hospital to kill him.

He said the attack caused Njue great pain and deformed him, so a life imprisonment serves Ruguru right.The woman claimed she splashed the acid on her husband after he tried to splash it on her during a quarrel but the court dismissed the claims saying it was fabrication.
The court gave her 14 days to appeal.
