Huyu anaitwa nani? People across central and southern Tanzania #believe that if this rare mammal wonders out from its hiding it is carrying a special message from the #ancestors to warn the people against a coming calamity, be it a civil war, drought, hunger or heavy rainfall. However, it's appearance may also mean good news - that there will be good harvest in the coming season. When sighted the people normally don't kill the #Pangolin; instead they will take it to a local elder who will place water to signal for rainfall, a machete for war and flour for food in front of the mammal and stand aside to observe signs after touching one of the containers at its disposal.
