A University of Nairobi lecturer was on Saturday evening killed by unknown assailants at his house in Tala, Machakos County.
Prof Stephen Nzuve was accosted by armed gunmen at his gate, as he drove back from escorting visitors who had come to his place to congratulate his wife who had graduated during the day, the Nationreports.
According to police, the gangsters made their way into the deceased's home after waylaying him at the gate.
The Professor was shot in his sitting room after the gang of five had terrorised him and his family for hours, the Standard reports.
The gang is said to have escaped with three laptops, an unknown amount of money and other valuables.

After attacking Prof Nzuve, a long serving Dean of the School of Business at UoN, the gangsters later stormed the home of a Pastor, a few metres from the Late Professor's house.The unknown gang reportedly made way into Pastor Bernard Musyoka's house by shooting at the steel-made door.
Residents of the area have decried the rising insecurity in the area, pointing an accusing finger at the police whom they say are reluctant in dealing with the runaway crime in the area.
The locals noted that after Saturday’s incident, police arrived long after the gang, believed to be numbering five, had left the scene.
Reports indicate that the murder of the UoN don came as the fourth killing in the area, over the past few weeks.
